On Friday, February 1st, staff and residents alike showed their support for women’s heart health by wearing red here at San Simeon. National Wear Red Day occures on the first Friday of every February to help promote The Heart Truth, a campaign meant to raise awareness of the risk of heart disease in women. The campaign is sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, part of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Raising Awareness for Women’s Heart Health Issues
The logo for The Heart Truth campaign is a red dress, meant to attract the attention of women and to eliminate the perception that heart disease is an issue only for men. The dress is meant to remind women to focus on their “outerselves”, as well as their “innerselves”, especially their heart health.
