San Simeon by the Sound’s purpose is to positively influence the course of illness and improve the quality of life of patients and families facing the problems associated with life-threatening illness.
Caring. Compassion. Commitment. A Higher Standard of Palliative Care.
Palliative care is described by the World Health Organization as the following –
“…an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problems associated with life-threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early intervention and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychological and spiritual.“
The San Simeon by the Sound family is committed to expanding the traditional disease model medical treatments to enhance the quality of life for the resident and their family by optimizing function, helping with decision making and providing opportunities for personal growth while experiencing a debilitating, chronic or life-threatening illness, condition or injury.
Support & Understanding When it Matters Most
Our expertly trained staff imparts high-quality care in a clean, warm and nurturing environment to prevent and relieve suffering by early identification, assessment, and treatment of pain and other distressing symptoms. By utilizing a team approach to integrate the physical, psychological and spiritual aspects of patient care, we provide an optimal level of care for patients and families at a time and in a setting consistent with their needs and preferences.
Comforted by our loving and nurturing environment that feels like home, the San Simeon community offers a support system to help the family cope during the patient’s illness and in bereavement, including grief support and referral to counseling services if needed.
It is our philosophy to affirm life and regard dying as part of the life cycle while approaching life-threatening illnesses in a manner that neither hastens nor postpones passing.
