A Generous Donation From a Loving Member of Our Community

San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation would like to recognize a member of our local community whose mother was a resident at San Simeon for several years, who generously donated 15 iPads for our residents use.

Upon the passing of his mother Mary A. Mueller, Mr. Timothy Mueller donated the remainder of his mother’s personal needs expense account to the facility to start a fund for the benefit of the residents. The MAM Fund, as it became known, provided the financial backing for the cost of the iPad purchase and the subsequent costs related to programming the iPads. Mr. Mueller offered his personal time and expertise, working for several months with San Simeon staff and their IT vendor to develop a communication and activity platform utilizing the iPad technology. In light of the pandemic, it became clear there was a great necessity for better communication options for our residents to be able to interact with friends, family and loved ones. This project accomplished that goal and more. In addition to facilitating communication such as Facetime, a specialized array of easy to use apps allow the residents to surf the web, visit news apps, game and puzzle apps, music apps, and more!

The iPads were circulated into service over the past couple weeks and have been well received by all. On behalf of the residents of San Simeon, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Tim and his family for their wonderful generosity.
