San Simeon by the Sound Brings Holiday Cheer in 2018

Year after year, San Simeon by the Sound enjoys bringing the warmth of the holiday season to their residents, volunteers and those in need. Here’s a look at some of the special events San Simeon was a part of in 2018.

Acknowledging Those Who Make Every Day Special

On December 13th, San Simeon rang in the holiday season with their dedicated volunteers at the annual volunteer holiday celebration. The party was a hit with D.J. Rick bringing festive tunes and sing-a-long holiday songs. All had fun playing trivia, winning 50/50 and raffle prizes. San Simeon is so thankful to have the opportunity to share our days with great people who are dedicated and treat our residents like they are a member of their family.

Fun and Cheer with The Piano Duets

The Piano Duets, formed by two longtime friends, came to San Simeon by the Sound to spread their holiday cheer and do a sing-a-long of their favorite holiday tunes with residents. The duet, Ruth and Doris, made a special quilt, which was given as a prize for the resident who picked their name out of a hat.

Giving Back to the Community in the Spirit of the Holiday Season

San Simeon by the Sound’s mission has always been to give back to the community, especially during the holiday season. Last year, San Simeon gave back to a local charity – collecting toys, gifts and food items for Suffolk County’s Local Toys for Tots – coordinated by Sgt. Richard Carver.

San Simeon by the Sound was happy to announce that they were selected as an official Toys for Tots drop-off location. Donations from employees and visitors filled two whole boxes of toys to be distributed.

Toys for Tots

Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, a not-for-profit public charity, is the funding and support organization for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program. Since 1991, the Foundation has supported Toys for Tots, which was created by the U. S. Marine Corps in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding with the Commander, and Marine Forces Reserve, who directs the U. S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program. For over 25 years, the mission has always been to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December of each year, and distribute those toys as holiday gifts to under-privileged children in local communities to make magic of the holidays. This is a truly wonderful charity that brings hope and joy to less fortunate children around local areas.

San Simeon Brings Even More Holiday Cheer by…

Mr. & Mrs. Claus came from the Greenport Fire Department and did Christmas caroling with the residents. It was a festive day filled with tons of fun and cheer!

Christmas Day was extra special for the residents of San Simeon by the Sound when Santa came to deliver gifts to each resident. Two members of the recreation department dressed up as Santa Claus and his Elf to make the residents’ spirits bright.
