Categories of Long-Term Care

Long-term care may be temporary or permanent, depending on the circumstances. Generally, rehabilitation after surgery or recovery from an injury or illness are reasons for temporary long-term care. Whereas, permanent long-term care is the underlying reason for people who have permanent disabilities, chronic medical conditions, cognitive impairment such as Alzheimer’s or dementia, and need for assistance with activities of daily living.

There are two categories of long-term care services – personal care and skilled care. Personal care provides assistance with daily living activities, such as meal preparation, household chores and personal hygiene, including bathing and dressing. Skilled care includes care that provides physical therapy, occupational therapy, medication management and nursing – all which are provided by licensed professionals at San Simeon.

Long-term rehab services are an excellent choice for patients who require ongoing care to restore their health and wellness. San Simeon by the Sound’s facility makes their residents feel at home and like they are part of the family.
